The story behind Tixit

One wallet for their tickets.
A more direct line than email.

Our website opens with these two sentences. They were chosen because the whole idea is in them: the first is for the visitor, the second for the venue.

Push messages as a communication channel

In retail the push message is already normal. Shops and webshops send more and more of them: short, direct, on the screen everyone carries all day.

In leisure it hardly happens yet. That is striking, because I believe there is far more to gain here. A day out has a date, a place and a moment. Rain is coming. It is a quiet day, or in fact a busy one and you want to spread visitors out. A time slot is cancelled. A message at that moment really helps the visitor.

What struck me about today's marketing tools

Almost every venue works with a marketing platform. Zoos, museums, theme parks, swimming pools: the newsletter goes out, often weeks before a visit.

With an email campaign you only reach the visitors who signed up for the newsletter, and no new visitors. On top of that, such a campaign mostly carries general information or a promotion. That often gets lost: people are busy with other things in life and forget about it.

And reaching today's visitor is harder still. Someone walking through the park right now. Someone coming on Saturday. Someone who came last month and would happily come back. The venue knows these people are there, but cannot quickly let them know something.

An app of its own for every venue is not the answer

More and more venues therefore have an app of their own built. I understand why. But look at it as a visitor: an app for the zoo, one for the museum, one for the pool. It becomes too many. After the visit the app is deleted again, and the contact goes with it.

My idea: one app that works at every venue. An app with all the tickets, passes and discount codes from several venues, where a visitor also discovers new days out, has a reason to stay on the phone. And as long as it stays, the venue stays in touch with its visitors.

One platform for visitors and venues

Tixit is meant to be the place where visitors and venues find each other. For the visitor it is a wallet made for a day out: tickets and annual passes together, the park map, discount codes, finding each other on the grounds. Free, and without an account.

For the venue it is a marketing platform that works with push messages. You reach today's visitors, one time slot, or the people who have been before. And because visitors discover other venues in the same app, people who have never visited you can find you too.

That combination is what I was missing. Most wallets store a ticket, and that is where it ends. Most marketing platforms are there for the venue, but have little to offer the visitor on the day itself. Tixit brings the two together. It works alongside your email, not instead of it.

The three principles behind Tixit

Simple but effective

A visitor opens the ticket from their email and it is in the wallet. A venue signs up and has nothing to connect or build: Tixit works with the PDF ticket you already send. That gives you a direct line to every visitor who has the app straight away.

Win-win

With every feature I ask the same question: is it useful to the visitor, and to the venue? Only when the answer is yes twice does a feature belong in Tixit. An app that only sends advertising gets deleted, and rightly so.

Modern and secure

The platform was built new from the ground up, with no old systems underneath and with security and privacy as its starting point.

Automatic sending, a dashboard with statistics and, for those who want it, weekly AI advice that reviews your campaigns and suggests improvements: it has all been there from the start. A complete platform that we keep building on.

Where Tixit is now

Tixit is new, and still unproven. But I have every confidence in my platform. And the best part of a start-up phase is that the first venues to put their trust in Tixit also have a direct say in future development and fine-tuning!
